I often listen to cool jazz at night while I work. Sometimes it is punctuated by a chorus of peeper frogs in the spring or the staccato of thunder claps on stormy summer evenings. Music and personal experiences provide inspiration. Working in an improvisational manner, I often think of my art as a repository for the flotsam and jetsam of life. I enjoy the multiplicity and ambiguity of meanings, inviting the viewer to look beyond the riotous surface. Photo by William Lemke |
