After the Charlie Hebdo killings in Paris in 2015, “je suis Charlie” became a slogan of solidarity with the victims, and support for the values of freedom of speech and of the press. Inspired by women I met during the 2016 political campaigns, I’ve adopted the slogan to signify the bonds between women of different faiths, backgrounds, and status throughout the world.
