◄ ► Didymo • Nancy Crasco |
Didymo is a type of algae (didymosphenia germinata) that has been spreading slowly through the freshwater areas of New England. Commonly known as "rock snot," it covers the bottoms of streams and rivers with a dense mass of fibrous material, which is how it connects to the rocks in the riverbeds, choking off the natural vegetation. |
