Metamorphosis
◄ ► Pieces, Petals, Leaves and Eaves: Bala Cynwyd • Anna M. Chupa |
Pieces, Petals, Leaves and Eaves: Bala Cynwyd was designed from photographs of flowers and vernacular architecture that reference quilting and Islamic tiling traditions. Fragments of over twenty-five buildings from the same neighborhood have been juxtaposed into a plausible landscape that retains the feel of the community. A fading background layer metamorphoses to a tile sky created with fragments from the same architecture embedded with fall flowers. The faux border is maple leaves traced from actual leaves, then pebble-quilted in the negative space. |
