From the inspiration in the world around me, I am compelled to make art objects. It is neither choice nor desire, but vital need, like air or water. For each piece of work, I find nourishment in its pursuit and satisfaction upon its completion. For me, the task at hand is to stay out of the way and let the process unfold.
I love working with textiles and color. As metaphors, they provide an unending supply of discovery and meaning. I work in series, because without some shape and form, some parameters and concepts, my ideas flow in tangents away from the here and now. As artist, I must focus on allowing the work to come forth on its own, providing a conduit for the flow of consciousness that embodies each piece. Only absolute presence of mind, body and spirit makes this possible.
